Guggenheim Fellow and 2011 DownBeat International Critics Poll Alto Saxophonist of the Year, Rudresh Mahanthappa is one of the most innovative young musicians and composers in jazz today. Multi-winner of Alto Saxophonist of the Year from the Jazz Journalists Association (2009–2011), Rudresh fuses the culture of his Indian ancestry with myriad influences to create a truly groundbreaking artistic vision. Performed at the Newport Jazz Festival in August 2011.
