Franks Wild Years was initially a song title on Tom Waits' 1983 album, Swordfishtrombones. It was then used as the album title for this 1987 release, derived from the play of the same name written by he and his wife Kathleen Brennan. Inspired by German art songs and carnival music, Franks Wild Years yielded such gems as "Way Down In The Hole," which was used as the theme song for the much acclaimed television show The Wire. Remastered here on 180g audiophile vinyl.
