In this well-loved session recorded in NYC between December 12 and 29, 1952, a young Stan Getz can be heard leading one of his finest quintets. Although only 25 years old at the time, Getz was already a giant of the jazz world, with many of the tracks from this album--including 'These Foolish Things', 'Stella by Starlight' and 'Thanks For The Memory', featuring the great Jimmy Raney on guitar--becoming major hits. Getz would go on to even greater fame in the mid-sixties with his Grammy Award winning version of 'The Girl From Ipanema'. The first four tracks on the B side are taken from the Dec 19 session and are bonus tracks. |
