| Planetary Unknown, David S. Ware’s new quartet, made their debut in June 2011 with the self-titled studio communion on AUM Fidelity. The album Planetary Unknown documented an epic occurrence, with major artistic circles between members Ware, Cooper-Moore, William Parker, and Muhammad Ali arcing together and synchronizing anew. Planetary Unknown traveled to Austria for their European concert debut at the highly esteemed Jazzfestival Saalfelden in August 2011. That concert, in three widely ranging sections, is presented here in its majestic entirety. This time out, David focuses solely on his tenor saxophone. Improvised jazz simply does not come any better than this epic concert—another one for the ages, indeed! |

TRACKS
“The level of invention is staggering, Cooper-Moore matching Ware in every trill, arpeggio, and overtoneladen growl with swoops, chordal passages, and inter-registral showers of crystal. The team of William Parker and Muhammad Ali is no less engaging. The results are mesmerizing.” — THE NEW YORK CITY JAZZ RECORD
“Unified by shared histories, the quartet’s inspired interplay yields passages of spontaneous invention that are staggering in their complexity and intuitive concordance, upholding Ware’s transcendental spirituality with palpable conviction … Planetary Unknown is a tour de force of free improvisation from four masters of the form.” — ALL ABOUT JAZZ |
