| On Vagabond it is apparent that globetrotter Ulf Wakenius is driven by a curiosity for all sorts of music, from the French “Bretagne” and the almost hymnal sounds of “Psalmen” to the archaic Native American tones of Jim Pepper’s “Witchi-tai-to” and the Asianinfluenced “Song For Japan.” Well-known for his work with Herbie Hancock, Ray Brown, Niels-Henning Orsted-Pederson, Hank Jones, Pat Metheny, and Michel Legrand. Served as a member of the Oscar Peterson Quartet for 11 years, until its leader’s passing in 2007. Features special guests Youn Sun Nah and Nguyên Lê. |
