It's on. It's overflowing with energy.…

… Albert, Jordan, Abrams and Drake are torrential partners. After an experiment led with the saxophone player Tobias Delius during the Fall of 2010 in Dortmund, and a “Kidd” Jordan eye-opening concert during the Summer of 2011 in New Orleans, Jeff Albert chose to record these very instigations with this very quartet, where he met again with the Bindu instigator, Hamid Drake, and the upright bassist of its third incarnation, Joshua Abrams. Because since Dortmund, the trombone player has made it a habit to experiment on this particular strategy consisting of improvising, indeed, but also of giving a minimum of verbal indications to the improvisers, so they cut across country, and “right away” dive into one of the hearts of the subject matter, in order to approach faster the unknown that awaits them. However, this marking out does not restrain any possible exit, since nothing is written and each player remains free to interpret in his own way these few instructions, which only act as opening guides. Once the space is open, the spinning-tops thrown in, the improvisation follows its natural course and all excesses are allowed…

…Suddenly, there are no more disasters, all promises are kept. Near the quartet's fountain, the lands are neither arid, nor submerged. The musicians have dug irrigation canals into society and the universe, overflowing with their energy. Alexandre Pierrepont, excerpt from the liner notes.

Fire! is a Swedish trio comprising Mats Gustafsson (The Thing), Johan Berthling (Tape) and drummer Andreas Werliin (Wildbirds & Peacedrums). Fire! is where they go to stretch their instrumental skills and to play outside their comfort zones, or collaborate with prestigious guests (see their previous Rune Grammofon releases You Liked Me Five Minutes Ago [2009], Unreleased? with Jim O'Rourke (2011), and In the Mouth a Hand with Oren Ambarchi (2012). Fire! Orchestra takes the project to the next level: a sonic behemoth comprising 31 members that should be unmanageable, but turns out to possess the elegance and lucidity of the righteous free-jazz big bands of the past. Charlie Haden's Liberation Orchestra. Carla Bley's Escalator Over the Hill. Centipede. Sun Ra's Space Is the Place. Chris McGregor's Brotherhood Of Breath. Freddie Hubbard & Ilhan Mimaroglu's Sing Me a Song of Songmy. All these classic landmarks come to mind as you listen to their monumental Exit!. This album was recorded in January 2012 at the headquarters of Fylkingen, the legendary Stockholm avant-garde music center. But before you go thinking this is an impenetrable free-jazz meltdown, listen again. Exit! follows in these mighty footprints, but it's also an odyssey that takes its own route, with post-rock/Krautrock diversions along the way. There is a way in to Exit!, and the way out is clearly sign-posted. Fire! is all about burning up tradition and blazing new paths and fresh approaches in improvised music -- approaches informed equally by garage punk, electroacoustics and the noise of heavy industry. Throughout both long halves of Exit!, Mariam Wallentin and Sofie Jernberg chant ritualistic lyrics written by Arnold de Boer of Dutch avant-rock institution, The Ex. The text, he explains, is about concrete and non-concrete space, "and about the possibility of improvising in actual space, and the ties, ropes and teachers in many online spaces and programs.
It's up to the various sorts of fire to define the real, irreal, surreal and unreal." Exit! might be a monotonous monolith of repetitive beats, or a tornado-eye of wild solos, but it has a point to make.

200-gram audiophile pressing.

The debut release from The Jimi Hendrix Experience is widely regarded as the greatest, most influential debut release from any artist. Are You Experienced has long been acknowledged as one of the most influential rock albums of all time. There are, however, two distinctly different editions of this legendary album. The original version, prepared and sequenced by Jimi and producer Chas Chandler, was issued throughout Europe In May 1967. This album excludes the group's first three UK singles. There has never been a mono release of this album in the US.

The classic US edition of the album was only available in mono for a brief period after its original August 1967 release. This version features the classic fish-eye cover and includes such hits as "Purple Haze" and "Hey Joe."

These original monophonic mixes have been transferred from the original master tapes by noted mastering engineer Bernie Grundman. Grundman's all analog mono mastering process helps to present the vitality of the original recordings as accurately as possible.

Clear red vinyl in PVC sleeve. Limited edition 500 copies. "In 1971, jazz trumpet player Don Cherry was living in an artists' colony in Sweden (where he met his wife, Moki) and becoming deeply interested in world music, which would mark a deep shift in his music from this point onward. In spring of 1971, Cherry traveled to Paris with his avant-garde jazz trio, made up of the great South African bassist, Johnny Dyani, and Turkish percussionist Okay Temiz (who would also appear on his Organic Music Society) to perform live for an audience of French jazz fans."
